I was inspired to buy this book whilst browsing through some recommendations from Amazon. Given I buy knitting and sewing books, this was quiet an unusual recommendation. Ribbonwork The Complete Guide by Helen Gibb is a beautiful book.
There are some wonderful pictures of ribbon work from days gone by and the uses they performed. There is inspiration for updating the use of ribbon flowers as well as step by step instructions to create your own.
I just haven’t had a chance to try out any yet but I am looking forward to doing so. I really like that the author takes you through the types of ribbons and their uses. There are even some easy projects to get you going which include all the items you need to reproduce them.
On top of all this it is another spiral bound volume which makes it really easy to have open while you work. Each step is carefully illustrated as well as described. There are useful tips throughout the book and tricky bits are highlighted along the way. I certainly felt that everything was included to let me have a go. Now all I need is the time!
It is such a beautifully produced book that it would look good on your coffee table where everyone could pick it up and browse the wonderful illustrations.
